    But RFC 2616 is Obsoletes

    Yeah, but that does not mean that the code should not have corrections dating from the time when it wasn't obsolete.

      :) just because there is a new RFC, doesn't mean all the old code compliant with old RFC suddenly explodes

    But RFC 2616 is Obsoletes: 2145, 2616 RFC 7230 is the new standard and I see no reference to RFC 822 or RFC 2822 in RFC 7230.
