A completely self contained PerlApp application starts at around 2mb. You can break out the perl5.dll file if you want to share it across many programs.
On the one hand, disk space is cheap, on the other bandwidth isn't always that, so this may or may not be a problem. The key here isn't performance but ease-of-use for the end user when it comes to installing your program. /J
