The question is problematic because "automatic" is rather subjective.

One part of the problem is that we are not fighting to control stupid machines anymore but the products of other programmers. Whenever we've climbed a mountain we are confronted with a bigger one behind the valley.

Another part is the way to measure productivity: I had colleagues praised for their productivity who just copied, pasted and adjusted boilerplates. Completely ignoring the long term cost of maintenance.

On the other hand I met colleagues in the past impressed about my coding tricks while I am not at all satisfied about my productivity.

I hope you understand now why I doubt that it will ever become automatic. ..

(Update: ... and if it could be done "automatically" why do we still need a human programmer then? )
