Perl is on an uptick as well in the Tiobe index, almost certainly buoyed by the recent release of version 6 of the language.

Perl6 is not version 6 of the Perl language. Rather it is version 1 of the Perl6 language. The tide of misinformation is strong and growing. All for the lack of a sensible name. :(

    While I agree that Perl6 is a different language from Perl5, Perl5's version id* reinforces the idea that it is the 5th major version of Perl. That then encourages the idea that Perl6 is the 6th major version of Perl.
