I had the discussion in the past, it was especially bothering when dozens of spam posts appeared.

FWIW:

A trick in case of "reap" is to downvote directly after consideration (negative rep is obligatory for reaping).

The buttons appear then automatically and you save a step.

Of course this doesn't help much in cases where you don't want to vote ...
