Firsov has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello everyone!

For the last six-seven month i learn and investigate perl, write some programs, exercises, read books about perl. That is cool and i starting enjoy write on perl. But i want more practice for mastering perl, not just exercises from book. And i want to help perl community.

So I am searching for some open source project/organization where i might be useful.

I'll be very grateful if you help me.

And additionally i have experience in things like JavaScript, jQuery, C#, HTML, CSS, etc.

(sorry for my bad English)

You could also try and help solve other people's problems here on PerlMonks. There's some pretty interesting challenges to be had.

(R)?ex looks like a pretty nifty open source tool written in Perl. Just heard about it recently but it looks like a pretty active project... http://www.rexify.org/

    Some options:

    • Answer problems post on this site
    • Search for existing bugs with CPAN modules. Patches are likely welcome.
    • Search for existing Perl bugs. As above.

As for your additional experience you can look at some web project like Dancer to partecipate. I'll like to see new tutorials about it!.

There are no rules, there are no thumbs..
Reinvent the wheel, then learn The Wheel; may be one day you reinvent one of THE WHEELS.

That is interesting idea. I had some experience with Dancer2. I will try to join Dancer's community

      Thank you

Do not forget to report back here at the monastery your activities!

    Hi

You may have a look at the github for the per projects and start work with any projects that you like.
Have a look at http://code.google.com/p/saaral-soft-search-spider/ - if you like to know GUI desktop application development in perl.

    Thanks & Regards,

Just as an immediate need of one open source project:

App::LedgerSMB::Admin::Web needs some help to get a few final pieces of functionality (mostly adding new users for the LSMB web app). It could be helpful for getting a sense of Dancer and perhaps a starting point for understanding how to write a dancer tutorial too.
