The top three priorities of my open tasks are / I triage incoming tasks into (in descending order of likelyhood to be worked on)

  • Priority 1, Priority 2, Priority 3
  • urgent, important, favour
  • data loss, bug, enhancement
  • Priority 1, Priority 0, Priority -1
  • out of scope, out of budget, out of line
  • family, friends, work
  • impossible, inconceivable, implemented

    • $work/required, $work/fun, $work/annoying, $work/revolting, $hobby/required, $hobby/fun, $hobby/needed

Being able to do my hobby during working hours, I always have to weigh how much of the time spent in hobby projects (read: CPAN modules) will return into net time-win for my $work daily job. For me there is a thin line between $work/fun and $hobby/required as I use much of my $hobby projects in my $work.

    • boss, colleagues, $self
    • partner, kids, $self

It is nice to have someone else to set your priorities, both at work and home :)

      boss, colleagues, $self

This reminds me of the "JOY" mnemonic sometimes taught in Christian circles: Jesus; Others; Yourself.
