Real geeks can send ICMP packets just moving a magnet over the network cable. Reading the response back is harder though.

    I find a paper clip, properly unbent, and dangling from said magnet, is very sensitive. For higher frequency transports, use a strand of braided shielding cable, such as from shielded coax.

      if you have some little idea you can provide a sample of your code

      you should have idea on ACK AND SYN and done it before in perl

      and when your sending ICMP echo request to host you should expect Echo Reply Messages
