in thread my within brackets

When tried it, kdiff3 was decent, but a pale shadow of Beyond Compare. Does it even support editing?

Not sure what you mean with "editing", I can edit the opened files

Thanks I'll take a look at "beyond compare".

I mean using kdiff3 as a file editor to edit the files being compared.

I think that's what you meant by "I can edit the opened files".

It has been a long time since I tried it kdiff3.

I just checked, I can edit the merge of 2 files.

If you mean editing the 2 or 3 files compared, I'd rather do this inside emacs with ediff

        Cheers Rolf
