in thread Newline's creep in, while using Tie::File

strict.pm was first included in Perl 5.0. warnings.pm came in 5.6.

I'm still using ancient Perl but not that ancient...
    I'm using 5.16.003 dating from 2012 unfortunately

I'm using 5.26 for my day-to-day use. My system perl is 5.30, so pretty recent. I have various other versions for testing though, going back to 5.6.1.

The shared hosting server I use is stuck with 5.16 - I have a later version (not exactly sire which - and I am not sat at the machine right now) on the laptop I use most.

I am considering upgrading to a VPS or even dedicated server mostly to have more control over the Perl version and the installed libraries.
