        Even if, I don't think that Catholic bashing is any better.

        Jesuits used to be forbidden in Germany for almost 50 years til the 1920s and the word is still negatively freighted.

        Equally did the KKK not only target Blacks but also Catholics and Jews, to keep the US a WASP country.

        Most of my mother's family went to Catholic schools and those religious orders were instrumental in spreading education in countries were the public system failed.
