Just to add complexity to an already complex system: I would prefer that the year start on an individuals birthday. Just think of the mess that could make! On the other hand, it might offer up some interesting challenges for those who have had the gracious (though to me, un-explainable,) temerity to attack date and time through efforts like Date::Calc and relatives. I suppose that one would have to offer up the option to personalize such modules upon installation.

Additionally, it might force us to rethink how we engage in dialogue regarding time, perhaps giving us an opportunity to switch to a less complicated and more global standardized calendar....(preferably without daylight savings time. Have never figured out how that saves either daylight or time..)

If nothing else, it would render useless the question "when were you born", as the answer would always be the same: 0001-01-01T00:00:00Z(in one parlance anyway,)

Nothing like starting out the new year with a suggestion to make the world a more complex place... :-)

...the majority is always wrong, and always the last to know about it...

A solution is nothing more than a clearly stated problem...
