in reply to Unparent tangents?

I think this would make much of the site structure a mess, if people could decide to split a thread into several. Often 'tangent' threads would likely be insufficient to fit into any section of the site. My advice would be just to ignore things you consider to be off topic if it's really that much of a distraction for you. This would also be ripe for abuse by our resident trolls, and likely IMHO cause more confusion for newer users than being able to reply or ignore posts at their discretion.

I was thinking of putting it up for consideration to make it root level as hippo suggested, that's it. I was wondering if nodes could be moved to root level after consideration. The community decides if it should be moved. 8)

My OS is Debian 10 (Buster); my perl versions are 5.28.1 local and 5.16.3 or 5.30.0 on web host depending on the shebang.

No matter how hysterical I get, my problems are not time sensitive. So, relax, have a cookie, and a very nice day!

'Is it possible to unparent my reply and its replies into a new thread, maybe titled "I do not like scrolling" or something?'

The node you linked to and example title you suggest have what to do with a perl question? "Would you accept that I do not like scrolling and use the syntax highlighter to keep sane? 8)" isn't a perl question, which section of the site would you suggest posting this to, and how would this be less confusing for others/new users? Wouldn't it just make more sense to leave that sub thread with a reply along the lines "I've posted a new different question here", rather than either just ignoring something until focus on the core issue isn't a problem or relying on others voting and moving things around?
