Esteemed Monks and fellow travelers,

I'm in a position where I've got a tad bit too much to handle, so I'm putting out a request.

For years, I've supported Perl in ways that nearly defied logic relative to my real life. Came from nothing, did something, blah blah blah.

Many have done that. What I appreciate is the attentive use and comprehensive addition to Perl that so many Monks and others have contributed to my favourite language over the last near-20-years.

Now, I'm not as dynamic. I'm not as fluid and liquid to bounce from one thing to the other by the minute. I can't maintain my library of software myself anymore.

For that, and for many other reasons, I'm hoping to liquidate or at least get help with some of my Open Source Software projects.

I'm STEVEB on the CPAN, and my repo stash is here. Take a look and let me know if there's anything you'd like to grab or take part in.

berrybrew, as well as a few CPAN dists I favour I'd like to oversee, but mostly, take a look and let me know if you want to overtake anything.

License retention, DVCS experience (repos stay in a freely-available and accessible location), and a proven love for Perl are absolute requirements. I put my love into what I've done. I would hope someone would take my silly code and keep it something that's usable.

One last statement... don't take job offers seriously without doing extreme and exceptional due diligence. I got fucked up the ass while I had head injuries. Sickening, yep, fucking angering, yep, don't accept any job if you don't get paid in advance. This world is a different place anymore. I am just too tired to be raped without appreciation.

    I think all the effort you've put into open sourcing these modules is great! And one of the great things about open source is you don't have to worry if you don't have the time, someone else can easily step up. So don't stress about it! As I've mentioned, I'll be trying out your RPi:: libraries soon (most likely RPi::I2C first), so I'll get a little bit of exposure to them, and I can take a peek into the code :-) I'm pretty busy myself, but at the very least I can make some pull requests if I come across anything.

    In general, what kind of tasks do the modules need done? I looked through all of your dists and repos, and it seems like most of the issues are reported by yourself, so I guess you've been using it as a to-do list? If you don't mind a suggestion, perhaps you have a few minutes of time to go through them and label the issues in some way that lets people judge the priority? I see you've added a couple of "enhancement" and "bug" labels, but there are some repos with no labels. Perhaps labels like "enhancement", "wishlist", "minor issue", "documentation", "bug", etc.?

    First off, I'm sorry to hear of your latest troubles. You've had a lot to put up with in recent years and I'm sure that the Monastery only hears about maybe a tenth of it. That said hopefully things are not as bad as they currently seem to you and maybe in a few weeks or months it will have turned around. I do hope so.

    It seems like the easy way out but maybe don't be too keen to let them go entirely. Consider just mothballing the low-priority stuff; there are plenty of dists on CPAN with no changes in 10 years and they aren't all suffering for it. If there are dists of yours which require more urgent attention then co-maint might be a good way to go.

    Personally, I am a bit too tied up with other things right now to take on any more. If you still feel the same way in a month or so then we can talk further and maybe I can get involved with at least one or two things to help a little.

    Don't let them grind you down!
