Here's my fav reason to rename it, stolen from TheDamian:
It has a more subtle association with the Perl community’s
signature camelids: “raku-da” is Japanese for “camel”.

Again, because I can't comment in the discussion itself...
Also, Camelia, with the “C” and the “ML” in the name could confuse someone into thinking that’s its a language of the ML family like Ocaml.
Um... Isn't it? ;-)

I personally believe that
all the concern (expressed by some of the folks in that discussion) about a rename taking the new language away from Perl-the-philosophy-ecosystem-community
are completely unfounded, even vapid.
Everyone knows that Oberon is a language in the Modula family.
And when Oak was renamed to Java it sure didn't hurt anything.
The new language needs its own name. Include "perl" in it somehow if absolutely necessary -- something stupid like "neoperl" or whatever.

Frankly, a language that only about fifty (and here I'm most likely being too nice) people care about may be called anything at all. It doesn't matter at all.

So far 12 or maybe 13 people upvoting this? Looks consistent with what I wrote.
I do believe that the number of people that care about the name of this failed experiment at adding every single programming concept anyone ever made up into a language loosely based on Perl is at least two magnitudes lower than the number of people that just don't want it called Perl. Just rename the thing already, thousands of people had been yelling at the ten or so Perl6 developers to do that for a decade and half.
