zentara is going bye-bye

by Anonymous Monk
on Oct 25, 2014 at 18:50 UTC ( [id://1104997]=perlmeditation: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

Hello esteemed monks and nerds out there. I post this anonymously because my computer blew out yesterday, and instead of fixing it, or wasteing bucks on another, I decided to let the computer go. I take this cosmic ray hit on my computer, as a sign from God, that wasteing time on the illusion of programming, is just part of Maya, the Great Illusion. It was great fun and all, and taught me alot, but I'm not staying on this planet, and if the karma associated with computers is bad, then getting rid of my computer is good.

So, I'm not dead, I'm not fading or slowly iterrating away, I just don't see value in wasting time on an illusion.

So, as final advice, zentara says seek the Vaikunthas, and remember, I'm not ignoring posts, but if God takes your computer away, what can you do? :-)

Good luck in whatever you decide to do with your extra free time.

I for one will miss your informative and often amusing posts.

If that's not a fake please log in one last time to help us believe it. :)

PM has the feature of mailing forgotten passwords.

(I hope you didn't loose your mail account too and are trying to commit digital suicide? ;)

    Cheers Rolf

      If that's not a fake

only the real zentara could post a meditation like this one.

Of course all is an illusion, but I always wondered why any god would speak to us in such riddles and not simply send us a letter or an email expressing his commands.

... I always wondered why any god would ... not simply send us a letter or an email ...

Old Jewish joke (quoted from here):

A deeply religious man, whom I will call Dave, finds himself in dire financial trouble. He prays earnestly to his God to help him out of his predicament. “God, I’m about to lose my car. Please help me. Let me win the lottery.” Lottery night comes, but sadly, Dave is not the winner.

Things go from bad to worse. Without a car to get to work, Dave loses his job. Without a job, his mortgage is foreclosed on, and he loses his home. Without a home, his wife leaves him, taking the kids. After each horrible step in the mounting crisis, he pleads with God to let him win the lottery, but he never does.

Finally, broke, hungry, living on the street, he tries again. “God, please, my life is a wreck. I have no car, no home, no family. Please let me win the lottery just this once so that I can turn my life around. I beseech you.”

Suddenly, a flash of light rends the sky, and the voice of God echoes down from the heavens. “Dave, meet me halfway. Buy a ticket.”

Or in other words: try looking in your inbox? :-)

    hello zentara,

first I have to admit i'm sad earing this news from you.
Could this cosmic ray be pointed, for example, toward an army vendor's computer?

Have you think about you maybe had to reach your Vaikunthas helping us writing better code?
When Ganesha put some bug in our code or when he incite us in our learning curve?
We all know that you are not really a human: you are just an account on Earth server.
You know: accounts can come back to life with easy (in the hope you'll be back some day).

I have to admit you are right about the illusion of this world. And if the real world
is illusionary so our 'Hello World' programs are illusions in a mirror.
But you can brake these illusions even doing Perl, i hope, as well as looking an apple falling from a tree.

As consolation we can visit your cell here at the monastery to look at some colorfull Tk paints
    or to Multithreaded Mandalas.

    So this is for you:
.. cos years have passed and things have changed and i move anyway i wanna go i'll never forget the feeling i got when i heard that you'd got home an' i'll never forget the smile on my face 'cos i knew where you would be an' if you're in the crown tonight have a drink on me but go easy...step lightly... stay free

and this one too, if i know you..

...There is a road, no simple highway Between the dawn and the dark of night And if you go no one may follow That path is for your steps alone

farewell zentara, a warm hug from Italy and a caress to your dog.

I think that the sign from God, is that you have to buy a better computer so you can continue your mission to disseminate your knowledge. :)

I know I will miss your posts regarding Tk and GUI programming. Thank you!

    Best regards, Stefan

What a waste of useful intelligence, to surrender it to mindless superstition!

      I concur
