Perl Success Stories

I was visiting Success Stories and found them very old. The latest story is dated as old as September 2001. Is there an another version being written by somebody? Any blog/websites reflect the current status ?

Ok, timing means I’ll bite. Today I got my 13th recruiter contact of this year. A record for me; better than once a month someone wants to see if they can help me get a Perl-oriented job. And do you know what they all say when I say, I’m currently occupied? They say, do you know any good Perl programmers?

Someone willing to get good at Perl and possibly|probably relocate is basically guaranteed a job today. Can’t say that about too many specific fields. I understand that this is partially a reverse success story. That I get asked to apply because the dearth of Perl hackers since Perl lost market share in the last 10 years. But there is plenty of code out there in need of gardening or initiative and there is no other mainstream programming language that makes it easier to get a job at market or better pay. Again, relocation is often an issue; there aren’t Perl jobs in every city.

    Update: 2014-10-14: 14th. :P

    Update: 2014-11-18: 15th (I’ll quit updating at year’s end).

    Update: 2014-12-01: 16th

Perlmonks very own "Cool Uses for Perl" tends to contain some miscellania along those lines.

People are generally too busy succeeding with Perl, every day, than to have time to spend crowing about it.   :-D
