I am unaware of how `shift` can be used to indicate whether the user has typed something on the keyboard. I am also unaware of how `shift` can be used to determine if there is any data waiting to be read on STDIN from redirected input. Could you be so kind as to provide a working code example? That would be really cool information to have!	[reply]
