But a pmdev could 'fix' NN and RAT to not show unapproved nodes to anonymonk (or just not to recognized search robots). But that would just push the spammers to a different posting strategy.

So we should fix node display to not show the contents of new nodes from new members to anonymous users. But this is only useful for spammers that are stupid but not really, really stupid (see my prior comment).

If you vote for a node (be it + or -), you can see how others vote for the same node. If you are interested in the reputation of nodes you did not author nor vote for, you can get a vague image by turning the option to sort replies by reputation on. I wasn't talking about voting or reputation, but about the benefit of "approving" new nodes. Whatever, I think a "Quarantine" section to move the junk away from the list views till they are reaped is a useful idea.
