in thread Anti-Spam: Quarantine section?

What part is broken?

The text you cite only says that Cool Uses for Perl never showed the post, not that the post itself was never available to anonymous users.

Ahhhhhhh ... OK now I got it! :)

For Anonymous Monks "main pages" like SOPW show only approved posts, BUT Recently Active Threads and Newest Nodes show always everything.

So the approval mechanism doesn't help blocking spam, since bots parse all index pages.

But a pmdev could 'fix' NN and RAT to not show unapproved nodes to anonymonk (or just not to recognized search robots). But that would just push the spammers to a different posting strategy.

So we should fix node display to not show the contents of new nodes from new members to anonymous users. But this is only useful for spammers that are stupid but not really, really stupid (see my prior comment).

OK I know your point of view and I won't argue...

But out of curiosity, what exactly is the approval system good for?

        Cheers Rolf
