If we want to stay with the monk theme,
how about The Cloister Cafe (238 E 9th Street) for dinner in a nice outdoor garden and Burp Castle (41 East Seventh St.) for drinks?

As an alternative maybe Swift's Hibernian Lounge (34 E. 4th Street) will do. It has got great beer, decent cheap Irish Pub food, and a great backroon with a long monk-like table.
