My History
at the Perl Monks Monastery
May 13,
2002 at 01:59am
-- I cut off my hair and joined the Monastery
|
After
reading webpages, books, code snooping, and chatting on IRC in #perl, I
found this place. I had just finished writing my second perl program ever,
I was anxious to share and get opinions on the code and idea. I spent some
time reading through the website and noticed alot of helpfule advice was
being passed around! A few nodes into the website I realized if I wanted
to learn Perl this is where I should be. So many Perl Guru Minds to get
useful information from.. Needless to say I had to sign up! |
May 13,
2002 at 07:11am -- I posted my first Craft,
"html/file security cgi [revisited]"
|
When
I made this post I had no idea I would get so much attention. I only wish
it didn't start out negatively. I can tell you one thing I learned quickly
Craft is not the place for a newbie to post code! :) But seriously Im glad
I made the post, I got alot of feedback on what I needed to do to make my
code solid and secure. |
May 17,
2002 at 06:32am -- My first post to PMD,
"Oh wise Brothers where will you guide me now?"
|
After
reading everyones suggestions I decided to post my updated source code and
give it another go. If you have a moment review the code, I must say its
100% improved and I owe the results to PerlMonks.com. I'm glad I found this
place. I have much to learn now to come up with another project to learn
from! :) |
May 20,
2002 at 08:32am -- My Perl time is limited!
|
After
a much needed 3 month vacation, I had to get back to work. See I took some
time off while I was settling in to Minnesota after my move from New Orleans.
I will be trying to continue learning Perl outside of my 50 hour work week.
You may not see me often but I when you do I assure you I'll be coming with
code. For now though I need to settle in to my new GM job. |
