Ability to email messages/threads

Hi,

I've been an avid reader of PerlMonks since I discovered it a few weeks ago. Very nice job!

It would be very useful to be able to email messages (or even whole threads). Every once in a while there are those messages that are real gems, so I would like to be able to email them to myself (or to others) for keeping.

Thanks again,
--Diego

That's part of what Personal Nodelet was designed to do. It adds a link to any node you think is appropriate to your nodelet bar down the right side.

It may not scale well, but it's a good place to keep things for a few weeks. Maybe it'll hold you while vroom and nate add the other.

I'm not a big fan of places that have an "auto-email" feature (it can be abused too easily), so my vote goes for either 1) Good old cut-and-paste 2)Sending the URL of the page.

On that note, perhaps a link could be added to the end of each page to allow easy bookmarking and copying of the URL without all the extra stuff (such as lastnode_id etc.) ?? I've seen this at other places - basically a simple URL that let's you refernce the current page easily.

I agree. The main use I would have for this feature, however, is to mail things to myself, since there are some things I like to have in my local DB of perl expertise (makes it easier to search, etc.).

So what about this: make the feature only available to registered users, and make the feature a "mail to myself" thing, which automatically send the message/thread to the user as which you are logged in.
