I would also like to mention that Perl is excellent for taking what was written for those "quick and dirty" jobs and turning them into multi-use programs. I can't count the number of times I've written a one-off and realized a week later that I needed something more robust. So, I just wrote a module based on my one-off.
It's actually, in my opinion, the best feature of the language - the support for development efforts of all shapes and sizes. ------ Don't go borrowing trouble. For programmers, this means Worry only about what you need to implement.
