radiantmatrix has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I've hit CPAN and found Win32::Exchange. I've seen a few examples of how to work with Outlook via Win32::OLE (I know very little about OLE, sadly). Everything I seem to be able to find is about automating actions or checking e-mail or using the Address Book.

What I can't seem to find, and what I implore help with from my Fellows here, is this:

I am in need of a way to look at several shared calendars (for resources, like conference rooms, etc. in this case) on an Exchange server to determine which of them are available at a given time. The simplest use case for this is finding an available conference room given a date and time range. I'd prefer not to depend on Outlook for this, but if I have to, I won't cry.

I'm totally stumped in the research phase. Can anyone here give me a push in the right direction? If you have simple, working code that connects to exchange and opens a specified calendar, that would be huge. If not, I'll take whatever help I can get and share the result (here at least, in CPAN if I have time) if and when I solve this.

My gratitude knows no bounds (which seems like it might lead to a buffer overflow...)
