Ovid has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

(OK, this only vaguely fits in 'seekers', but there's no 'volunteer help wanted' section :)

So far it appears that the work for the new Test::Harness is going really well. There are a couple of bumps, but nothing major we know of ... except VMS (and maybe z/OS). Abe Timmerman has been sending us test runs, but what we really need is for someone with access to VMS to either have the time to debug some of the issues or allow Andy Armstrong remote login access.

Right now it mainly looks like issues with the wait status and the fact that VMS doesn't fork (not a big deal for us, really). These things should be easy to fix, but doing so remotely isn't working.

If you might be able to help, reply here or sign up for the TAP::Parser developers list.

Cheers,
Ovid

At the Yapc::Eu in Belfast, Bernd Ulmann, aka vaxman, offered free VMS accounts on his system for people interested in testing Perl in a VMS environment. Maybe the offer is still open or he could help you out: Vaxman.

http://www.testdrive.hp.com/ HP gives out accounts for their systems, including OpenVMS. Has GNV (GNU tools on VMS) and perl 5.8.6 all ready to go.

The Deathrow cluster offers free OpenVMS accounts. They have everything you need for a complete development environment: Perl and Vim.
