Gentle monks,

I love the personal nodelet. Like Biker, I use it for storing pointers to nodes that I want to keep track of. Some of those nodes I want to keep around forever, some of them I just want to remember to upvote tomorrow morning. Therein lies the problem: it's occasionally difficult to distinguish the two.

I'd like to see some way of separating or distinguishing entries in the personal nodelet. My first thought was to add separator (<hr>s, basically) and the ability to add the current node above any separator. That seems like too much work, though: why not replace the "add (title)" link with a text box containing the node's title and an "add" button, allowing people to modify the name they link to a node by? (That way I can just prefix the "upvote this" nodes with a + or something.)

Would anyone else find this useful?

A common solution to the "remember to upvote tomorrow" problem is to /msg yourself a pointer to it. This is also more easily disposed of the next day than a full entry into the personal nodelet.

That said, I have no objection to making the personal nodelet a little more -- well, personal. Right now, it's the only place where one can store links in an accessible place that no one else can see. Sure, one could use the scratchpad by making it non-public, but the scratchpad is useful in a public form. So, perhaps having the personal nodelet made a little more free-form might be useful.

    perl -pe '"I lo*`+$^X$\"$]!$/"=~m%(.*)%s;$_=$1;y^`+*^e v^#$&V"+@( NO CARRIER'

      I have asked for this:

      • have the personal nodelet data be 'plain text' like the scratchpad/bio information.
      • the format of the PN data would be normal PM links:
        [id://1234|The Title] [id://8321|Another Node]
      • new links are added to the end, just like add to scratchpad.
      • a textbox on the personal nodelet so you could change the title when you add the link would be cool, but now it's easy to edit the links afterwards and just change the title.

A monk could now edit the nodelet links like any other node, add html, ordering, change titles, ...

I think it would be grand.

The main problem I have is that if you have nodes with long titles they all kind of run together. Seperators would be nice.

The other problem is that I have HTTP Server, anyone? twice and I can't delete either entry :)
