Well according to your argument, a lack of comments is good for educational value. I agree with that on a level, but very often the purpose of code is not to educate, but to solve a problem. And the programmer wants whoever ends up maintaining the code to be able to do it well, not learn from it. I guess that completely uncommented code can be good for an intellectual challenge, but it is not really USEFUL.
