Why do you or so much energy into replying? Everything was already said, just link to an overview post summing it up.

I don't share your confidence that "everything was already said". Though I could link to a node that summarises the observed behaviour patterns, that does not solve the mystery of the "why" behind the behaviour. Note that your summary link does not address the "why" behind the behaviour.

Please note that -- unlike many of his detractors -- sundial does not (deliberately) hide behind a cloak of anonymity, so simplistic "psychology of internet troll" arguments do not apply. If anyone with psychology qualifications can provide some insight, I'm all ears.

Well I think duck typing doesn't need a "why".

He could as well be either a demented pensioneer or a very clever troll/sockpuppet. We will never know for sure "the why" unless we break into the NSA.

While we decided to tolerate him, the best strategy is to simply minimise the damage. A warning for newbies is enough.

Feeding costs your nerves and that of others too. He already proved to be inaccessible to reason, so minimal unemotional replying is IMHO the best approach.

I have to admit I'm in an easy position because I'm blocking his posts from my view. So continue as you like, as long as you feel it's not diminishing your fun factor here.

I wouldn't like to see valuable contributers like you being frustrated. :)

      Its spam , duh

Judging by the ongoing replies, votes, corrections, etc... Your reply is ludicrous. No one would want to be professionally associated in the programming sphere with this account. Whatever it is, it is not spam.

the mystery of the "why" behind the behaviour ... simplistic "psychology of internet troll" arguments do not apply

who says anyone's psychology is simple? who says all trolls hide behind anonymity?

leaving the "why" a mystery is part of what makes him successfull, keep everyone guessing

displaying multiple personality disorders is part of the game

who cares about the "why" if the net effect is the same, attention for the troll and time spent and upset emotions in others

    don't feed the trolls
