    hum, it's no surprise George leads the poll, besides from advertising for Solaris system, he also wrote perfectly sound Perl code : " When you've seen beyond your $self, then you may find, peace of mind is waiting there" AND he used 'use strict' as you can guess from this :"I'm a tidy sort of bloke. I don't like chaos. I kept records in the record rack, tea in the tea caddy, and pot in the pot box". There's a Larry in George and vice-versa...

    There is only one answer to that. Mal Evans. The Beatles roadie.

    Anyone who has experience of being a roadie, or knows one, will know the biggest requirement is versatility. Along with that comes being able to fix things at short notice, quickly and without fuss. Much appreciated with those who use their services and general unknown to the masses. Describes Perl to me :)

    John ..

    Paul would be java PHP, whatever it is that everyone else is doing.
    George would be lisp, coz it's elegant
    Ringo would be using BASIC .. a little bit outdated, but still a little bit of cool left.
    and poor Pete would be left behind .. so probably Fortran.

    Cheers!
    Rick

    I'm voting for Ringo. I have no deep reason for voting this way, I just think it is fun to say "Ringo". It has a nice ring (ringo?) to it. he he. Sorry for the cheesy pun, I couldn't help myself.

    George, hands down...

    Besides being an ardent follower of the Mahjarishi (sp?) and thereby demonstrating actual monkish behavior.. There is further evidence:

    my $guitar; while (&gentlyWeeps($guitar)){ # iterate over the other lyrics }

    Wait! This isn't a Parachute, this is a Backpack!
      tsk tsk... a shame to not include poor paco? paco

    What qualifies as 'Perlish' ?

    I mean, almost any computer language can result in great changes. They can be confusing and instigate fights, and yet generate works of art when placed in the right environment ... but I don't know if I'd qualify Yoko as particilarly 'Perlish'.

    (And I'm not one to bother with the histoy of bands, and I've never really been into the Beatles, so I don't know the history well enough to take digs at the other people on the list)

    I was disappointed that there was no "WTFO" choice...
    or maybe a "How the Flop should I know?" ;-)

    so I voted for Pete, the Best Beatle?

    At first I was also disappointed that I couldn't vote for paco.

    So playing with the offered choices Yoko is the obvious choice:

    $beatles = "PaulJohnGeorgeJohnRingo"; @yoko = split(/John/, $beatles);
    markmoon

    @a = ("a".."z"," ","-","\n");foreach $b ( 12,0,17,10,24,12,14,14,13,26,8,18,26,0,26, 22,0,13,13,0,27,1,4,26,15,4,17,11,26,7,0, 2,10,4,17) {print $a[$b]};print $a[28];
