jk2addict has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I've spent some work already integrating Locale::Maketext to localize the exceptions strings in Handel. I want to expand my use of L10N to now include the more common aspects of Handel; the messages integrated into the web pages. Things like 'You have x items in your cart', etc, etc.

I need to write an AxKit Taglib to do the L10N calls within XSP pages. That itself isn't hard. What I'm having a hard time finding information on is scoping issues involved when using Locale::Maketext.

Do I have to call get_handel for each page request to ensure a french user doesn't get a cached english lexicon? Or can I just load on lexically scoped $lh per apache process and it will just load everything once, then do the right thing for each call to maketext on the same handle?

Anyone have and experiences to share with using Locale::Maketext within mod_perl?
