Russ's current assignment in Kansas City, Kansas, USA puts him within decent driving distance for me.   So... we're looking at a totally informal, throw-it-together-with-little-or-no-planning, Perl Monks barbecue+blues+jazz get-together on Saturday, October 28th.

/msg me if you're interested in joining this pilgrimage to meet fellow Monks and enjoy food and music that KC is famous for.
    cheers,
    ybiC

p.s. Anyone else wonder what's up with Russ and cities with state names?   ;^)   First Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.   Now Kansas City, Kansas.   What's next - the all too real towns of Iowa City, Iowa or Nebraska City, Nebraska ?

Update: Looks like his itinerary is growing.  {grin}   Tilly and chromatic give us New York, NY and Idaho City, ID.   How about a World Tour with Mexico City, Mexico?   Or Quebec City, Quebec from Anonymous Monk?   Then there's Texarkana, AR + Texarkana, TX from Phaysis and Arkansas City, KS and Kansas, OK from adamsj.   Now BBQ has Russ making stops at Brasilia and São Paulo, São Paulo and Rio de Janerio, Rio de Janerio, all in (you guessed it) Brazil !

He could always join me in a big town known as New York City, New York...
We could have a Perl Monks dinner when University of Perl rolls to NY, NY.

Well as the (to my knowledge only) NYC resident on PM, I would enjoy that. My plan would be to track NY PerlMongers and hope that (unlike last time) they nail down details over 6 hours in advance.

Unfortunately their main interest appears to be beer, and beer is not exactly high on the agenda for at least a couple of us. But that makes for a convenient way to meet.

Well, there's always Arkansas City, Kansas and Kansas, Oklahoma--those should count for something.

Eh, y'don't wanna go to Texarkana, either side. Sure, Texas side's bigger, and Arkansas side's got the liquor stores, but it's best to stay away from that town.
Trust me: that's my hometown. Imagine growing up with the town's motto "Texarkana is Twice as Nice!" Ech. Twice as boring.

BTW: Arkansas' abbreviation is AR. God forbid there should be a Texarkana in Alaska. :)

With an itinerary like this, I may never get any work done...

On second thought, who's complaining? :-)

As long as it isn't in Quebec City, Quebec ;-)
How about...

...a European one? I've seen many either true Europeans, or ex-patriates in Europe on PM. Might I suggest a few places: Galway, Ireland for the St. Pat's weekend Venice, Italy during Carnival I'd be willing to make it to something like this if enough people were involved. Oh -- Guinness in large quantities is also a big draw! ;-) Heck -- put sometype of "conference" moniker on it, and a large amount of people could use this to con the boss into letting them attend! See you there! -- Just another Perl slacker Steampunk.

October 28th? Sorry, but that's the OU/Nebraska game. I have to be in Norman to see my team take over the #1 ranking in college football!

I am impressed to find Russ living right here in OKC though. I thought I was alone in this vast technological wasteland. (:
