Well i tried Copying http://www.perlmonks.org/?node_id=722499 for my needs and no results. Im trying to measure the incoming traffic of a 40Gbit Interface every few seconds or so, (preferable a amount of seconds i can set) I have Not been able to succeed with this, so anyone who knows about SNMP please help me create a little script to do this, weather it be with SNMPWALK or any other program.

    The script part is relatively simple.

    The more difficult part is to find the OID for the item you are trying to meter.

    First - find out the relavant part of the MIB from the manufacturer of your hardware/firmware.

    Use a simple snmp "get" command to make sure you can get that value, and that it makes sense.

    Then convert that request into a script that runs periodically.

    That's about measuring network throughput isn't it?

    Perhaps you should consider using bing instead of SNMP?
